This is the picture of our cake featured on TLC “Fabulous Cakes” season Two, in the “Above and Beyond” episode. This beautiful cake was so much fun to make! It served approximately 450 guests and weighed approximately 200 lbs. It was made for a Quinceanera. The shoe was a replica of the one worn by the birthday girl, the doll (Olivia the Pig) was a replica of the one she passed on to a little girl during the party. These were some of the featured elements of the traditions of this coming of age celebration . There was also a chocolate ring box that had the actual ring her parents gave her; in tradition she will wear this until it’s replaced by her engagement ring. We also replicated her tiara, and her favorite purse brand. Everything was built around a Shabby chic dresser, with crystal knobs made of sugar and carved “wood”(fondant pieces). It was a wonderful experience to make this cake in front of the cameras, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

I love this cake. I enjoyed watching you make it. Could you please tell me how in the world you made the blue scarf that is in the drawer. Thank you so much!!
Sincerely,
Carmen

the scarf was made with a special kind of icicng called sugarveil. When it dries it feels like fabric and you can use the lace molds provided my the manufacturing company to make the sugar lace you see on the cake.
